What is Pilates?

Pilates is a low-impact method of exercise that focuses on strengthening muscles, improving flexibility and posture and is often used during the rehabilitation phase after an injury. There are a number of different types of Pilates, and Pilates Instincts offers over 15 services that are all aimed to increase your strength through slow, precise movements and breath control.

What to expect?

During your session, you will use a variety of different equipment to target specific areas of the body. Our instructors will show you how to correctly use this equipment to ensure the best possible results.

You can expect to feel a little sore after your session as your postural muscles will be put to work. This pain is only minor and Pilates will not leave you in any further discomfort or pain from injury.

When you first start your session you may feel a little nervous, but rest assured our instructors will guide you the whole way through.

Why Pilates? Why us?

During a Pilates session, you are taught to feel and question the alignment of your body before commencing an exercise. This form of exercise guarantees results without putting a strain on your body.

You then experience how your bones and muscles facilitate your natural alignment which helps you become free to tap into your innate and instinctual ‘strength’, achieving more by doing less.

By the end of a Pilates session with Shannon you’ll feel growth throughout your body. Having challenged yourself away from the stresses and limitations that your day set you, you’ll feel a sense of freedom.

Within a few lessons your posture will improve with strength, mobility and stability. Your muscles will be more toned and your joints more resilient.
